Bringing the freshness

May 16, 2018 | Martin, Telperion

Journalists, competitive swimmers, cage fighters and Cambridge scholars: we are a varied bunch of guys and girls at Telperion. So we bring something a little different to the businesses we work with. Collectively we blend youthful energy and creativity with experience and wisdom. Whether it’s knowledge of the latest app, or a decade’s experience in winning value propositions for well over £1BN, we’ve got it covered.

Over time we’ve discovered the way that we work best together as a team. It’s about achieving a balance; a mixture of a relaxed atmosphere and working in high intensity bursts. We’re most productive that way. We start the day at 8.30 with a conflab around the whiteboard to check the day’s agenda – who’s doing what and when. Then we get on with it, stopping for quick-fire stand up meetings to gather brains, see how everyone is getting on and who we can help. There are no petty rules either – we dress down on Fridays and you can even bring your dog (or lamb…) to work if you want. It’s what we all produce that matters.

Team-bonding isn’t an away day. It’s every day. We live and breathe it 5 days a week. It’s why a lunchtime team swim is a regular occurrence, it’s why we welcome dogs in the office, it’s why all computers get shut down for an hour over lunch. We switch off, so we can switch on again.

A very different start to the day!

We’re committed to going above and beyond what’s expected of us to deliver content that cuts to the heart of what our client needs to say. But you don’t get that kind of insight by sitting behind a desk all day. So we sacrificed – pardon the pun – an extra half hour...

Find your foal…

Find your foal. Choice 1: Eleven months ago as a business we faced a stark choice: to buy a new Polycom conferencing system, or to buy semen with which to artificially inseminate an old mare. No choice at all: the stallion in Germany was relieved and the semen was...

Cutting through the noise

It won’t be news to you that we live in an age saturated with an overabundance of information and communication. Everyone is talking, all at once, all the time. On Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp, YouTube…you name it -- it’s endless and unrelenting. It seems...

Moving between RFP and the Orals

So, you’ve got through the RFP stage. Brilliant. Now you receive an invitation to Orals… Don’t panic. There’s no need to start from scratch again. There is a reason why you have been selected; something that captured your client’s attention. Recall (or find out)...

Heads up… Telperion

Heads up... Telperion (almost) defrauded of £10,000 by great writing and accurate tone of voice “The MD didn't write those mails to his staff. I know. I am the MD.”    It was a curt e mail, pinged off from his iPad. The MD wrote to Geoff, the head of Finance, about a...

Outside In to get the Inside Out

When it comes to bid writing, our outside perspective means that we can see companies clearly when they no longer can. We notice the great things that they may take for granted. Think of it as like helping a friend write a CV. Maybe the business is fantastic at...

Don’t leave your best times on the training track…

Don't leave your best times on the track...   Remember this — they only mark what is in the written submission.   Bids are competitive processes. The only thing that matters is the race itself. Yet time after time companies leave their best performances in training....

“Always on” literally kills people

The modern workplace can be incredibly stressful – and that’s especially true on Bids. As Head of Delivery at Telperion we’re going from Bid to Bid. So I have to keep our teams performing at a high level and getting past that stress. How? Well practically, the way I...
